try relocking the bootloader then reboot and lets know if its still stuck in orange state
is the firmware for your phone's exact build number listed at https://www.hovatek.com/forum/thread-25815.html ?
(01-03-2019, 11:37 AM)Victor Chilago Tried that relocking with "Fastboot OEM lock"
It returns:
"Start lock flow
failed (remote:
Lock failed - err:0xfffffffe
)
Finished. Total time: 15.271s "
Tried all the different commands as given in a hovatek thread about unlocking bootloader, all failed. Also tried to flash stock boot file I downloaded from a hovatek thread which failed.
I didn't take note of my phone build no before trying to root, and don't have the build no now so I'm not sure if the firmware for exact build no is listed on the stock rom download page.

then lets try to verify the build number first
try method 1 or 6 @ https://www.hovatek.com/forum/thread-16005.html
lets know the outcome
(01-03-2019, 08:18 PM)Victor Chilago I got this from recovery (stock):
"TECNO/F8017/TECNO-B1p
8.1.0/O11019/AB-181113V100
user/release-keys"
wasn't sure which part was the build no so I typed everything I saw

the full build number is B1p-F8017AB-GO-181113V100, the only firmware found online for this particular build requires payment
but lets try find a DA file first cause it will be needed, check your PM
BTW did you flash any files after unlocking bootloader, patched_boot or something else?

your phone's build is 'F8017/AB-GO-181113V100'
the firmware for your phone's exact build is not available at the moment, we'll list it @ https://www.hovatek.com/forum/thread-25815.html once available.
use wwr_mtk tool @ https://www.hovatek.com/forum/thread-21970.html to backup your phone's firmware. Let's know once successful.
Also, can you get access to a working device same build as yours?
(02-03-2019, 10:26 AM)Victor Chilago Yes I flashed patched boot (patched using latest magisk manager app) which was successful. I suspect the problem with my phone is that it is stuck on bootloop while trying to boot, aside from which it would boot normally (and erase my user data) despite the orange state message. I suspect that the flashed patch boot file caused this because magisk failed to properly patch the phone boot file (maybe because it was signed) creating a bootloop causing patched_boot file.
