I've been trying to root my phone (tecno spark 2 KA7 1 gb ) with no success.Ive tried a few custom recoveries out there but none works I've also tried patching stock with magisk which also failed

you don't necessarily need a custom recovery to root
what error did you get while using magisk method to root? and at what point exactly?
Everytime I flashed the recovery via adb it goes through successfully but when I reboot recovery I'm still at KA7 stock

Flash the recovery from fastboot then power off device (remove battery if it removable ) wait for some seconds then reboot to recovery via hardware key.

where did you get the custom recovery you flashed and was it ported for your phone's build?
Tecno Spark 2 Download Agent is listed @ https://www.hovatek.com/forum/thread-23243.html , you can flash the philz recovery with sp flash tool.
State the phone's build no.
Can you link me to the Philz recovery plz

As i mentioned earlier, you don't necessarily need a custom recovery to root

if you don't have the stock rom / firmware for your phone's exact build number, then backup using the guide @ https://www.hovatek.com/forum/thread-21970.html
you can download DA for your model @ https://www.hovatek.com/forum/thread-23243.html to perform the backup

I did exactly that patched my stock with magisk and flashed it via adb it was successful but when I rebooted and opened magisk app it still said magisk is not installed plus when I reboot recovery it was still at KA7 stock
