I've been trying to root my Tecno LA7 pro through magisk and spflash tool but after loading DA file and scatter file, I selected patched_boot.img through scatter file, all I'm getting is "Status Error, insufficient Buffer...” Pls what do I do to root successfully?

Where did you get the scatter file and the boot.img you patched?
Did you use your phone's DA (Download Agent) to flash the patched_boot.img?

Both the scatter file and boot.img are from my rom backup. The DA is for Tecno LA7 from hovatek

seems your phone wont accept modified images, try unlocking bootloader then flash patched_boot using fastboot
unlocking bootloader, see https://www.hovatek.com/forum/thread-19578.html

Oh. I later resorted to flashing patched boot.img through spflash tool after unlocking bootloader and it worked. My device is now rooted after checking through root checker. Thanks for your support and time tech gurus.

Wanted to suggest this, it seems unlocking bootloader fixes the insufficient buffer on some devices. Good thing you tried it already
