issue on installing Gapps on Gionee M6
#1

Hi,
I have a Gionee M6 chinese version.

I want to install Gapps on it.

I have followed :
https:/www.hovatek.com/forum/thread-17423.html
rooted phone.

Now I follow: https:/www.hovatek.com/blog/your-android-phone-didnt-ship-with-google-applications-gapps-heres-how-to-fix-this-in-3-easy-steps/

Important notice section to install Gapps.

After copy 4 folders and set permissions. Reboot.
But the phone just boot to home screen.

Nothing installed. I checked /system/priv-app, copied 4 folders all gone.
I tried several times. same result.

It looks like when phone boot, it deleted copied folders, instead of installing.

Is there anybody experienced this ? any solution?

Did you try the custom recovery + gapps.zip approach?

No, I did not try that.
Because someone already tried and bricked the phone

if you noticed, we never figured out which version of gapps the person flashed. maybe it wasn't pico which is the recommended version.
flashing the zip is the option you have left to try seeing as copying files isn't working for you. if you don't have the stock rom for your device build, then you can backup the phone's firmware using a box / dongle OR backup system partition using adb [to be flashed using fastboot] OR backup using custom recovery.

Thank you for your reply.
I have used custom recovery to backup boot ,recovery, system successfully.
backup files are stored in sd card.
I want a copy on my pc. So I used USB to transfer files.
For boot.img and recovery.img, transfer is ok.
But for system, there are 4 files named system.ext4.tar.a, system.ext4.tar.b, system.ext4.tar.c, system.ext4.tar.d, they are large files  (954M).
When I use copy/paste to my pc, it always show CRC error ,  transfer aborted.
But I tried copy to different dir  on the phone using file explorer , it is ok.
How can I transfer this files to my PC?

Try zipping the TWRP folder first then copying the zip to your PC
