I upgraded my tecno camon 8 using the sp flash tool using the hovatek update zip and it was successfull. I later realized that everytime the screen went into sleep mode, the phone would restart itself. I downloaded the tcard update zip and updated from the sdcard and the problem was solved. I have tried to flash custom recoveries that hovatek have modded for tecno c8 marshmallow without success. I am recieving 5054 error evertime. I have tried both cwm and twrp for build 20160425 and still getting the 5054 error.
