I flashed the phone with X557-H807A1-M-160815V57 rom and have all the files including BPLGU and APDB. Have not installed any updates so DB's and scatter remain same.

MTK Engineering mode never worked for me. I enter 4, 6 and mac but it doesn't change. If I hit read, it again shows 0 in mac. Phone stops working if I install SU so rooting is probably not an option.

Using the BPLGU, I was able to connect MAUI Meta 3G v6.1316.01 and write IMEI's, however, I'm getting the WiFi error and need to write MAC. For that I try to connect SN Writer v2.1504.00 using the same database files, but I get error EnterAPMetaMode() : MetaResult = SPMETA_DLL::META_MAUI_DB_INCONSISTENT Snapshot

Need help figuring this one out.

WiFi is working, mac address is random everytime I connect and I see this error in WiFi list

I'm not sure if Bluetooth address is messed up too but I don't use it much so not that big of an issue. For now I just want to get a WiFi MAC address to stick in VRAM.

Yes I have read the forum post and I'd love if I could root the phone but it hasn't worked for me over several attempts. I can't boot at all if I install SU binaries. Also seems in these Chinese phones the allocation keeps changing so an OTA would either kill the phone or just overwrite root files if lucky.

Following up the method on forum post you mentioned, while I don't have root, is there a way I could just connect through ADB, pull the required files, edit them on computer and put them back. Would something like that work?

For the versions, I have tried 1.5.3 and 2.1504.0. I can try more if you think the could help.

Flash successful using SN_Write_Tool_v1.1516.00. Thanks all for help 


I was just going to start with first version to the last, lucky it worked early, surprising though, latest should work best.
