while at it, also confirm if you have tried flashing using a different tool e.g phoenix, or using a higher firmware version than what you currently have

Yes, I have tried using Phoenix. It was throwing some errors also.
The RM-495 firmware version I was trying to flash was v07.97, that the highest I could get online and I think it is the highest there is.
