If you get the error below while trying to install an app on your Android phone then this guide will explain how to resolve it.

App not installed
The package conflicts with an existing package by the same name

What causes this error?

Every Android app has a package name that looks something like com.hovatek.mobile . Each app on Google Play Store has a unique package name but this doesn't mean that two developers can't develop two different apps and give them the same package name. The problem starts when both apps meet on a platform (like your Android phone) which doesn't accept different apps with the same package name.
There could also be a clash when the app is already a system app and you try installing it (like a regular app) via the app installer.

Steps to fix App not installed. The package conflicts with an existing package..

Follow the steps below to fix this error

The general principle for fixing this error is to remove the currently installed app so the other app can be installed. You could do this by:

Uninstalling the existing app

Navigate to Settings > Apps and uninstall the existing app so you can install the other

Deleting from /system

If the app is at the system/apps , system/priv-app or system/vendor folder (whether still working or corrupted) then you need to first root the phone (you could try Magisk )  .  Using a root explorer like ES explorer, navigate to the system folder where it is located and delete the folder or apk of the app. Reboot the phone afterwards then retry installing the other apk.

Deleting residues from /data

If after deleting from /system and you still get the install error, using a root explorer like ES explorer, navigate to the /root/data/app and /root/data/data folder then delete the folder of the app. Reboot the phone afterwards then retry installing the other apk.

Clear data and cache from package installer

If you've deleted from both /system and /data and you still get the installation error, navigate to settings > apps > package installer ; clear data and cache then retry installing the apk

Factory resetting

If the clash is at the /data level and you can't seem to or don't want to root the phone OR you've been unable to find it then a factory reset should help clear it
