Hello, have been trying hard to find a custom recovery to root my Tecno F1 and haven't yet succeded. Kindly requesting for a custom recovery to root the phone or any other tecnique to get this rooted. Thanks

Have you backed up the phone's firmware?

Been trying to backup the firmware all day, but on reaching the preloading page, I get errors, like Phone is disconnected, or "Not Support Platform: MT6580M".

I've seen a couple of custom recovery images for the F1. Now the phone has been updated and the build number keeps on changing with each update. Im not sure about the original build number, as it's a friend's phone. Is it safe too root with a recovery of a different build number?

It's not safe, it's best you backup the phone's current firmware and use it's recovery.img to port custom recovery or use boot.img @ https://www.hovatek.com/forum/thread-21427.html to root.

edit the scatter file using notepad++
change the value of platform from MT6580M to MT6580
save then retry
