Cheers, I recently purchased the Oukitel WP5 - I see posts for the PRO version but not the standard Q10 type
Build: V03_20210302
Chipset: MT6761V/WE
Kernel: 4.9.190+
Questions:
1. What/where is the proper ROM for this version? It's not listed on the official website??
2. What is the proper TWRP version? If unknown, the general root is fine.

Thank you for any assistance.

1. I was looking for the Outkitel WP5 android 10 rom and it does not exist on the official website. That was the first place I checked. However, it was found here: https://romprovider.com/download-android...kitel-wp5/
Is there any way to verify this rom?

2. I'll be trying to root this evening. Thank you for the assistance, an update will follow once attempted.

it does, you just need to look properly, i'd even pointed out how to find where it's listed on the oukitel website

you could download the rom then use method 7 @ https://www.hovatek.com/forum/thread-16005.html ; verify the contents of it's build.prop

*UPDATE1 - Phoe is currently in Orange State/ Boot loop.
- Its likely to assume the ROM wasn't proper or may it be something else?
- Is there a way to check to see if the bootloop is due to the 'Orange State', or its definitely the ROM?
- How can I proceed and patch the "other ROM" I have from another source since I can't get into magisk? Or do I need to begin from some where else? OR, do something else?
- As previously mentioned the ROM on site is from 2020 which you showed in the post. Mine is 2021 (that's android 9). Therefore, since this other ROM is my last hope if it doesn't work I will be trying the website-ROM.
Please advise on the proper steps to take to resolve

What exactly did you do that led to the bootloop? Unlocked bootloader? Flashed patched boot from your exact firmware build?
Did you backup the firmware from your device before doing any of the actions above?

- When I patched the 'supposed' ROM after following all the steps in the post (above), it went into bootloop. It's easy to assume it wasn't the correct firmware as posted in the link. Thusly, if anyone else has this phone. DO NOT use the link I posted here.

- Yes the bootloader is unlocked and confirmed in adb?
All the steps went smoothly until I rebooted the phone, from flashing patch_boot.img within magisk manager.

- No, the proper firmware for the 2021/android 10 variant couldn't be found. So I decided to make a learning experience and do things the hard way, but definitely a learning experience. And a guide for those in a similar situation of what NOT to do and what CAN be done if possible.

you need to check the current build number on your device (at least for future reference)
you can do this by taking a readback of recovery.img from the device ; open the scatter file using notepad then take note of the values for recovery partition from the scatter file of the firmware you downloaded then readback guide @ https://www.hovatek.com/forum/thread-526.html ; step 5 - 14

if successful, get the build number using method 7 @ https://www.hovatek.com/forum/thread-16005.html

The build number was in my first post. Here it is below:
Build: V03_20210302
Chipset: MT6761V/WE
Kernel: 4.9.190+

i'll attempt the readback steps you mentioned and update. in retrospect from perusing the official site ROM, it appears that amazon sales are false specs (which occurred with my Armor 5X). I had to tell them the specs and they agreed after checking and changed their graphics within hours.

The site from data states: OUKITEL_WP5_EEA_10.0_V09_20201119_192903
from reading the file info: its android 10, version 9, dated 11/19/2020 9:29:03 pm ???

How is my phone a version 3 for the year 2021 but the Oukitel website has a version 9 for 2020???

I also attempted to fastboot flash the boot.img file from the official site (mentioned above) but it didn't change the bootloop at all.

I also attempted to remove the orange state/reboot from the phone by hex-decimal but the MT6761 is one of the versions that the 82xxxx cannot be found in the editor. So anyone with a similar chipset, it's a waste of time.

Question: isn't the recovery.img on the phone and boot.img the same image? is there a method using SP tools or similar software to copy/rip the recovery.img? Then flash the recovery.img within adb, to return it back to stock in a worst-case scenario? The phone hasn't been using yet, so I have no saved data.

(23-07-2021, 10:47 PM)Enigmah313 The build number was in my first post. Here it is below:
Build: V03_20210302
...

armed with this, you could try reaching out oukitel support, see if they can provide you with the exact firmware build OR you could backup firmware from a device having the same build (if you have access to another) then flash the boot.img from the backup

(23-07-2021, 10:47 PM)Enigmah313 from reading the file info: its android 10, version 9, dated 11/19/2020 9:29:03 pm ???
...

so it seems

(23-07-2021, 10:47 PM)Enigmah313 How is my phone a version 3 for the year 2021 but the Oukitel website has a version 9 for 2020???
...

the build number system is best known to the OEM, maybe the version number reboots for every new year

(23-07-2021, 10:47 PM)Enigmah313 I also attempted to fastboot flash the boot.img file from the official site (mentioned above) but it didn't change the bootloop at all.
...

if you're unable to get firmware for the exact build of your device, you could try flashing the full firmware from the official link (not boot.img only)

(23-07-2021, 10:47 PM)Enigmah313 I also attempted to remove the orange state/reboot from the phone by hex-decimal but the MT6761 is one of the versions that the 82xxxx cannot be found in the editor. So anyone with a similar chipset, it's a waste of time.
...

removing the warning won't stop bootloop (if the device is already stuck in bootloop)

(23-07-2021, 10:47 PM)Enigmah313 Question: isn't the recovery.img on the phone and boot.img the same image?

No, they're different

(23-07-2021, 10:47 PM)Enigmah313 is there a method using SP tools or similar software to copy/rip the recovery.img? Then flash the recovery.img within adb, to return it back to stock in a worst-case scenario? The phone hasn't been using yet, so I have no saved data.

you could backup recovery.img but at this point, it won't do any good
