Hi Guys,
I have problems with flashing the preloader to my bricked Blackview S8, just hope it can unbrick this dead phone. Having watched many good videos from experienced guys, I carefully followed the steps:
1) I installed the MediaTek Preloader USB VCom drivers: Clean PC windows 10, make sure no previous installation of MediaTek USB with usbdeview, turn off windows unsigned driver enforcement. After the driver installation, plug in the dead Blackview S8, I have MediaTek USB port connected from the Device Manager. So, this USB drivers installation step I am 80% sure that I got it correct.
2) Open SP Flash tool as an administrator, loaded in the stock rom scatter file, tick only the preloader, etc. then hit the Download button.
3) Press Vol+ button and plug in the cable, I got the “red” bar DA download 100% and it stopped there, never flashed the preloader as expected. It just hangs there until time out by the tool with the general error as shown in the picture.
4) I enclosed the log file from the SP Flash tool in case someone knows how to read the logs and understanding exactly what went wrong.
5) I got stuck with this problem for 2 weeks now and wonder if anyone with more experienced can help, very much appreciated.
Many thanks.
Tony

Do this
Carefully
Open it sp and load it scatter file and tick only preloader, don't Click download
Open ur device manager and make sure I connect ur cable properly .(pls don't disconnect from the main USB that connect ur phone, but disconnect from the cable that connect ur PC to phone ,I mean the big USB head)then look if ur PC detected ur phone as mt67xx preloader vco,but if not keep pressing volume down until u see preloader vcom .at that point disconnect and click download in sp and connect ur phone.make sure preloader is the only option tick .at this time I will see ok which means preloader was flash success.
After this u know what else to flash to bring it phone back to life.

But before u carry on the above procedure make sure u dismantle ur phone battery and and place it back and charge for some time.

did you use the DA for s8 @ https://www.hovatek.com/forum/thread-23869.html ?
Thank you very much for helping.
1) I used the default MtkAllInOne_DA.bin in the SPFlash package 5.1916.
2) Followed the link that you gave, I downloaded the DA for S8 and use it instead of the default one in 1).
3) First trial, I have a “LIB DA not match” and followed the instructions of Hovatek on how to deal with SPFlash tool errors, I used SPFash tool 5.1816 instead of 5.1916. Then I can bypass the error message.
4) However, the flashing of preloader still unsuccessful I am afraid. The error message is different though. This time something about the EXT_RAM exception, shown in the enclosed picture.
I am sure the dead phone is Blackview S8 and the stock ROM is from Needrom.com. The battery is disconnected as flashing only preloader. So all the “solutions” for the case ext_ram exception is not applicable.
I enclosed the error picture and the log file in case you would have further advice.
Many thanks.
Tony
