(05-02-2021, 10:17 AM)X3non idk why you need twrp, unless patching boot doesn't work or you want to install a custom rom or zip

For Nandroids and installing zip & img, touch-supporting recovery,...

(05-02-2021, 03:40 PM)Detective_Khalifah I'm going back to older system image today. CUL8R with feedback.

Flashed successfully, boot image patched (avb/dm-verity preserved) with Magisk, TWRP 1.4 ported and working without touch -- will see if I could get past that in the next few minutes.
Sadly, any configuration I make in the Settings app reverts immediately I leave the Activity/screen I made change(s) at. Don't know why... BTW, Data Encryption did its thing when I flashed system image, and this time it took 20 minutes, more or so -- about 10 minutes longer than it did previously when I flashed same image (without formatting data in both occurrences); files and apps from original system image still exist, even my Magisk modules look so, with exception of Xposed, which I flashed via TWRP previously.

Repacking is presenting issue of kernel not reaching "packed size";
Original Kernel::
Name: recovery
Size: 17 846 184
Packed Size: 7 578 187
Host OS: Unix
CRC: 5F646574
------------------------:
Size: 7 564 385
Packed Size: 7 667 148
Folders: 0
Files: 1
CRC: 5F646574
------------------------:
Path: ...
Type: gzip
Physical Size: 7 578 187
Headers Size: 10
Streams: 1

After I gzipped the kernel, I got 7 578 178 (9 bytes short), so Added I 9 bytes but got Packed Size: 7 578 181
; then 6 (Packed Size: 7 578 180); then 7 (Packed Size: 7 578 181); 6 again (Packed Size: 7 578 181); 6 once more (Packed Size: 7 578 181)

Even hotspot is turning itself off. I'll reset factory settings, then restore some of my apps and reflash original system.img or find a workaround for TWRP if battery issue is resolved.

BTW, I tried appending end-of-kernel-data to kernel image after adding just 9 bytes (instead of multiple occurrences), and flashed the image. It failed to boot.

New system image goes from around 50%(+) to 100% when recharging - had it twice.
It discharges for 3-4 hours while I play games (offline), and it has to be recharged again or exhaust 5% for about 6 hrs on standby; original system image also got exhausted to about 5% in 4 hrs while I was playing games (mostly online for 2-3 hrs)

not sure this will work but you can try, use the manual deletion method @ https://www.hovatek.com/forum/thread-800.html ; requires that your device is rooted
