lets know the outcome and if there's any errors, state the exact point you get the error. for screenshot, you can use another device to take pictures of your phone screen
After flashing stock ROM then Philz, I opened up custom recovery and thought what if I just flash the stable Magisk, so I did, but this is what I got:

-- Installing: /external_sd/Magisk-v18.0.zip
E:failed to set up expected mounts for install; aborting
E:Can't mount /cache/recovery/log
E:Can't open /cache/recovery/log
E:Can't mount /cache/recovery/last_log
E:Can't open /cache/recovery/last_log
E:Can't mount /cache/recovery/last_install
E:Can't open /cache/recovery/last_install
E:Installation aborted.

Same goes for v16.7, but after wiping cache, I was able to flash v18.0 successfully. Though after rebooting the system, it freezes there. So I flashed the stock cache and it went well. I saw Magisk Manager installed with v18.0.

After downloading F2FS Loopback Bug Work-Around, going to Philz, wiping cache (because if not, I get the error above) and flashing, I got this error:

-- Installing: /external_sd/F2FS_Loopback_Bug_Workaround-2018.10.9.zip
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Installing update...
E:Error in /external_sd/F2FS_Loopback_Bug_Workaround-2018.10.9.zip (Status 1)
E:Installation aborted.

Also, I don't have an extra phone or don't want to borrow one. :3

On a side note: How can I disable Magazine Lock Screen? It's really annoying.

Update: After trying with v16.7, F2FS Loopback Bug Workaround seems to be not installed using Philz, but upgrading Magisk to v18.0 seems to go well.

look for the install from adb option or adb sideload in philz then repeat the procedure from the beginning i.e staring from flashing stock rom
but this time, instead of flashing the zips using philz, you'll flash the zips using adb sideload method at https://www.hovatek.com/forum/thread-19467.html
lets know the outcome

if the magazine lockscreen is an app, you can disable or uninstall the app using link2sd (you must be rooted)

Good day.

All I see are guides for TWRP recovery only, so I go straight ahead to sideloading the zip from Philz. This is what I got from CMD (sorry, I can only screenshot from PC, not my PC though):

.png
Capture.PNG
Size: 2.35 KB / Downloads: 3

This is what I got on Philz from that:
E:failed to set up expected mounts for install; aborting
Installation aborted

Repeating the sideload after wiping cache, I got this:
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Installing update...
E:Error in /tmp/update.zip
(Status 1)
Installation aborted.

For the Magazine Lock Screen, I already disabled the app, but the lock screen keeps changing wallpapers every time the screen turns on.

Happy New Year guys!

Well, getting back to this issue, I finally got to do the steps from this (including the  Note section):
https://forum.xda-developers.com/android...y-t3712491

But after flashing Magisk then booting to recovery to flash modules, I always get this error:
Updater process ended with ERROR:1

Regarding the Magazine Lock Screen, I reverted back to v144 and from there, I can just select the normal lock screen.

Try the fix @ https://tweakguy.com/fix-magisk-install-...-recovery/ or https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/ma...g-t3659365 let know if it works

Well. Thanks for your help guys. Nothing seems to be working, so I'm just not going to download modules anymore.

you can try out the native xposed installer @ https://www.hovatek.com/forum/thread-16021.html
maybe you might have better luck using native xposed

Thanks, but I'm giving up on it now. I don't know if the problem is with the force encryption, the changing of format to f2fs or something else, but nothing seems to work. I am glad I still have root.
