While this has been effective for many devices, some Android Pie users (the focus here is on Mediatek) have still been unable to attain root.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There&#8217;s the Orange State after you <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hovatek.com\/forum\/thread-19578.html\">unlock bootloader<\/a>. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hovatek.com\/blog\/dm_verity-is-probably-why-that-twrp-flash-ends-in-a-bootloop\/\">Verity key<\/a> which needs to be disabled by flashing an empty vbmeta.img. You have <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hovatek.com\/blog\/so-whats-all-this-talk-about-meditek-secure-boot-and-da-files\/\">Secure Boot (DA)<\/a> for those looking to flash patched images via tools like SP flash tool, boxes to dongles. Challenges of getting a working TWRP which our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hovatek.com\/forum\/thread-21839.html\">MTK TWRP porter<\/a> with Android 9 support solves. Entering recovery mode from fastboot (since fastboot boot recovery.img might fail) and recovery-from-boot.p is standing by to kick your TWRP out. Data Encryption (0MB) in TWRP&#8230;..I could go on with the hurdles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"> With the likes of the Tecno Spark Go (KC1) and Infinix Smart 3 Plus (X627), rooting has proven quite evasive as patching with the latest magisk manager  (as at the time of this piece) doesn&#8217;t give root. Don&#8217;t be in a hurry to believe every tutorial you see as few ever bother to verify what they publish.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The likes of Tecno KB7j can get root using mtk-su; read <a href=\"https:\/\/forum.xda-developers.com\/android\/development\/amazing-temp-root-mediatek-armv8-t3922213\">this guide<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/forum.xda-developers.com\/showpost.php?p=79626434&amp;postcount=135\">this one<\/a>. But I&#8217;ll be sharing how to gain temporary root on the Tecno KC1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Warning: You might lose network detection. Rebooting fixes this&#8230;but then you lose root \ud83d\ude42 .<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">To gain temporary root on the Tecno Spark Go (KC1):<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hovatek.com\/forum\/thread-588.html\">Setup ADB &amp; Fastboot<\/a> on your PC<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hovatek.com\/forum\/thread-19578.html\">Unlock your bootloader<\/a><\/li><li>Download the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hovatek.com\/forum\/thread-29560.html\">Tecno KC1 stock recovery.img<\/a> for your build number<\/li><li>Patch the recovery.img using Magisk Manager as explained <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hovatek.com\/forum\/thread-21427.html\">here<\/a><\/li><li>Rename the patched recovery image to recovery.img then copy into the ADB folder<\/li><li>Get the phone into fastboot then launch command prompt (for fastboot commands)<\/li><li>Flash the recovery image using <strong>fastboot flash recovery recovery.img<\/strong><\/li><li>Once the flash is done, hold the Power button + Volume up button till the phone goes off <\/li><li>Once the phone goes off, release the Power button immediately but keep holding the volume up button<\/li><li>Once you see the boot logo (Tecno), release the volume up button<\/li><li>The phone will boot up and you should have temporary root.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This post will be updated once permanent root is attained.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We&#8217;d released a guide on how to root using stock boot.img + Magisk manager.
