Back in June this year, Tecno announced that some Tecno Marshmallow (Android 6) models will be getting the Nougat (Android 7) update<\/a> , starting with the Tecno Phantom 6 Plus<\/a>. In the announcement, no other model was mentioned so its pretty much speculation and hope at the Tecno Forum.<\/p>\n

A few hours ago, a Tecno Forum Administrator announced that the Tecno Phantom 6 Plus (A9) will be getting the much anticipated Android 7 (Nougat) OTA update on the 4th. of August this year 2017.<\/p>\n

It is no longer news that we would be releasing the Phantom 6 Plus Upgrade to the latest Android Nougate (N) version in August!!!<\/p>\n

Well guys, August is here and I am happy to announce that come August 4th, the OTA upgrade would be released…<\/p>\n

Also, I would be updating this thread on how to upgrade with the SD Card.<\/p>\n

Fingers are pretty much crossed because the only Tecno phone to have ever received a version update was the Tecno Camon C8 (Lollipop to Marshmallow update)<\/a> and the first couple of builds were so buggy that they were practically unusable. For those still looking to update their Tecno C8 to Marshmallow, there’s a stable upgrade method at the Hovatek Forum<\/a> .<\/p>\n

If Tecno comes through on this then the Tecno Phantom 6 Plus (A9) will be the second Tecno phone to have ever received a version update and the first to receive a Nougat update.<\/p>\n

I’m pretty certain you would want to know how to upgrade \/ update the Tecno Phantom 6 Plus (A9) to Android 7 (Nougat)<\/strong> once the update is officially released. Untill then, its important you position yourself for the update.<\/p>\n

If you have rooted your Tecno Phantom 6 Plus (A9)<\/a> then you would want to unroot it because installing an OTA update.zip on a rooted phone could crash or brick it. To unroot your Tecno Phantom 6 Plus, you’ll first need to download the Tecno Phantom 6 Plus stock rom<\/a> for your Build Number<\/a> then flash it using SP Flash tool<\/a>.
