The Itel P51 gets additional attention because it is the first Itel phone to run on Android 7 (Nougat). Though I would’ve liked to see a Spreadtrum Nougat model released by Itel, a Mediatek model is welcome… but I’m still expecting.

Itel P51 Key Specs

Android 7.0 Nougat (Itel’s first Nougat powered phone)

5000 mAh Li-Polymer battery (OTG reverse charging support)

Mediatek MT6580W Chipset

8.0 MP Rear Camera

2.0 MP Front camera

1GB RAM

16 GB ROM

Quad-core, 1.3 GHz

My opinion on the Itel P51

Battery

On the Itel P51 and Itel P12, Itel claims that you’re covered for 3 days of power once fully charged. Such statements obviously come with terms and conditions because no 5000 mAh battery will last me 3 days; the assumption here is that you’re an average user. So far (on Itel phones), 5000 mAh capacity spotted on models like Itel P12 , Itel IT1516 Plus and this Itel P51 is second only to the 5050 mAh spotted on the Itel IT1553 . The Itel P51 supports OTG reverse charging.

Camera

Itel isn’t exactly popular for great camera quality so don’t stretch your expectations here. We’ve seen 8.0 Back Cameras on the Itel IT1511 (which also has the 8.0 MP : 2.0 MP combo) and on the Itel IT1518 (8.0 MP Back : 5.0 MP Front camera) which is a 4G VOLTE Itel phone . Below is a selfie I took on my Itel IT1513 which has a 2.0 MP Front Camera (just like the Itel P51) to give you an idea of the 2.0 MP Front camera on Itel:

RAM

Current Itel phone models run on either 512 MB (like in the recently released Itel A12) or 1 GB RAM so the Itel P51 is running on the highest RAM currently available on Itel phones. I’ve experienced 1GB RAM on Itel and its not a very pleasant experience, not even for an average user. Itel often attempts to squeeze the most juice out of the RAM which only has a counter effect of making it slower. If you’re a light user then you’ll enjoy 1GB RAM on Itel phones. Don’t even consider the 512 MB RAM models unless you’re the zonal chairman of light phone users.

ROM / Internal Storage

Currently, Itel models have either 4 GB, 8GB or 16 GB ROMs. A 16 GB ROM ought to serve you well on the Itel P51 but don’t think you’re immune to the running low on storage space error. Luckily, you can convert your external SD card to an adoptable storage .

Itel P51 Specs

Here are the full specifications of the Itel P51

NETWORK

2G: Yes

3G/WCDMA/HSPA: Yes

4G LTE: No

BODY

Dimenions: 155.8*77.5*8.9 mm

Weight: –

SIM Type: Micro

Number of SIMs: Dual

Colors: Streamer Gold, Crystal Gray, Mocha Gold, Elegant Blue

DISPLAY

Type: HD

Size: 5.5″

Resolution: 1280*720

Multitouch: –

PLATFORM

OS: Android 7.0 (Nougat)

Chipset: Mediatek MT6580W

Procesor (CPU): Quad-core 32-bit Cortex-A7 1.3 GHz

GPU: Mali-400 MP2

MEMORY

RAM: 1 GB

Internal: 16 GB

Card slot: Up to 32GB

CAMERA

Primary / Back / Rear: 8.0 MP

Secondary / Front: 2.0 MP

Features: Autofocus, LED flash

Video: –

SOUND / Entertainment

Alert types: Vibration; MP3, WAV ringtones

Loudspeaker: Yes

3.5mm jack: Yes

Music Player: MP3/WAV/eAAC+/Flac/MIDI/WMA player

Video Player: Xvid/MP4/H.264/Xvid player

Noise cancellation: No

COMMS

WLAN: Yes

Bluetooth: Yes

WiFi Tethering / Hotspot: Yes

NFC: No

GPS: yes

Radio: FM radio, RDS, recording

USB: microUSB 2.0

BIOMETRICS

Iris scanner: No

Fingerprint scanner: No

Voice recognition: Yes

SENSORS

Accelerometer: Yes

Proximity: Yes

Light: Yes

Gyroscope: Yes

Pedometer: No

Compass: No

Fingerprint:No

Iris:No

GENERAL FEATURES

Messaging: SMS (threaded view), MMS, Email, Push Mail, IM

Browser: HTML5

Java: No

Maps: Yes, Google maps

BATTERY

Capacity: 5000 mAh Li-Polymer

Standby: –

Talk time: –

CHARGING

Quick charge: No

Wireless charging: No

USB charging: Yes

How much is the Itel P51 and where can I buy it?

As at launch time, the Itel P51 would go for roughly NGN 30,000 – NGN 33,000 depending on the source.

Click here to view the current price or order an Itel P51

[kkstarratings]

Itel seems to be shifting its focus to larger battery banks of 5000 mAh + in recent models (e.g Itel P12, Itel IT1516 Plus, Itel 1556 etc ), Itel P51 isn’t left out.
