The next step? <strong>Root access<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I wanted full control. I wanted to say goodbye to system apps I\u2019ll never use and hello to advanced tools that actually do something. So yeah, <strong>rooting<\/strong> was the natural next step.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"> Preparation<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>I had already backed up my full ROM.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>I uploaded the <code>recovery.img<\/code> to the <a class=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hovatek.com\/twrpbuilder\/\">Hovatek TWRP Builder<\/a> to generate a custom recovery.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>I downloaded <strong>platform-tools (Fastboot tools)<\/strong> from <a class=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hovatek.com\/forum\/thread-17104.html\">this Hovatek thread<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>I placed the <code>recovery.img<\/code> inside the platform-tools folder for convenience.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>I entered <strong>Fastboot mode<\/strong> by holding <strong>Power + Volume Down<\/strong> and connecting the phone to my PC.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>I flashed the recovery image using Fastboot.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"978\" height=\"512\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hovatek.com\/blog\/bpyeki\/uploads\/2025\/05\/fastboot.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-13037\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Switching Recovery (When TWRP Failed)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The first custom recovery (TWRP) I flashed required additional tweaks<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>I also tried <strong>PitchBlack Recovery<\/strong> from:<br><a class=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/sourceforge.net\/projects\/wulan17\/\">https:\/\/sourceforge.net\/projects\/wulan17\/<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Flashed it via Fastboot.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Rebooted into recovery<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1280\" height=\"720\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hovatek.com\/blog\/bpyeki\/uploads\/2025\/05\/RECOVERY.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-13038\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"> Optional: Wipe Data for Stability<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Inside PitchBlack, I went to <strong>Wipe &gt; Format Data<\/strong> and typed <code>yes<\/code>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>This was to prevent common issues like bootloops or &#8220;0MB internal storage.&#8221;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>(&#x26a0;&#xfe0f; Skip this step unless you\u2019ve backed up your data.)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>I rebooted back into recovery afterward.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1280\" height=\"720\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hovatek.com\/blog\/bpyeki\/uploads\/2025\/05\/RECOVERY-2.jpg\" alt=\"wipdataredmi10a\" class=\"wp-image-13040\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"> Backing Up Critical Partitions<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>While still in recovery, I backed up:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><code>proinfo<\/code><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><code>nvram<\/code><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><code>nvdata<\/code><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>These are important for my phone\u2019s identity and network functionality.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The backups were saved in the <strong>PBRP<\/strong> folder on internal storage.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>My PC detected the phone in <strong>MTP mode<\/strong>, so I copied the backup folder to my computer for safekeeping.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1280\" height=\"720\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hovatek.com\/blog\/bpyeki\/uploads\/2025\/05\/RECOVERY-4.jpg\" alt=\"backupdataredmi10a\" class=\"wp-image-13044\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"> Flashing Magisk<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The PitchBlack Recovery ZIP I downloaded actually included a <strong>Magisk ZIP<\/strong> file.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>I copied the Magisk ZIP to my phone\u2019s internal storage.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Still in recovery, I used PitchBlack to <strong>flash the Magisk ZIP<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>PitchBlack took care of <strong>patching AVB 2.0 verity<\/strong> automatically.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>I then rebooted the device into system.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1280\" height=\"720\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hovatek.com\/blog\/bpyeki\/uploads\/2025\/05\/RECOVERY-3-1.jpg\" alt=\"flashmagisk\" class=\"wp-image-13043\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"> Final Setup &amp;
